Nine printable Capy feelings cards from excited to joyful, in color and in line art

How to use them

  1. Print page one on plain paper, or on thin card if you want them to last. Cut along the dashed lines.
  2. Lay the cards in a row, from Excited on the left to Joyful on the right.
  3. When a plan falls through and the floppy feeling arrives, let your child point to where they are right now. Then ask: “What could you do while you wait?” There is no need to hurry them along the row.
  4. Print page two whenever they want to color a set of their own.

The nine feelings

The same path Capy walks in the book, from a kite with no wind to a kite flying high. Pointing is easier than talking when a child is already upset.

  • Excited
  • Disappointed
  • Floppy
  • Teary

The book these cards came from

In Capy’s Rainy Kite Day, Papa and Capy have the kite all ready for the meadow hill. Then morning comes with rain tapping on the window, and Capy feels floppy, like a kite with no wind. Papa does not promise sunshine or hurry the feeling away. He sits close, names it, says he feels disappointed too, and lets Capy pick what to do while they wait. Oh well, maybe next time. And next time, the kite flies high.
