How to use them

  1. Print page one on plain paper, or on thin card if you want them to last. Cut along the dashed lines.
  2. Lay the cards in a row, from Worried on the left to Ready on the right.
  3. When a worry arrives, let your child point to where they are right now. Then ask: “What is one small step?”
  4. Print page two whenever they want to color a set of their own.

The nine feelings

The same path Capy walks in the book, from a fluttery tummy to one brave step. Pointing is easier than talking when a child is already worried.

  • Worried
  • Fluttery tummy
  • Fidgety

The book these cards came from

In Capy’s Fluttery Tummy, today is Capy’s first swim in the big pond, and his tummy fills with dragonflies. Mama does not cancel the swim or tell him not to worry. They practice at the Practice Puddle first, take three slow dragonfly breaths together, and try one small step at a time.
