What the story does

Most picture books about anger name the feeling and resolve it in a sentence. This one stays with it. Capy feels the whole wave, an adult steadies him by sitting with him rather than instructing him, and the story ends in repair: the tower gets built again, and this time Toucan helps.

That shape is deliberate. A child who has seen a character borrow a grown-up’s calm has a picture to reach for the next time their own wave arrives, and a picture is easier to reach for than an instruction.
